Do you have a pet-friendly home? Do you have any free time? Do you dream of hanging out with a real dog in a dog park? The good people at Vision Australia's Seeing Eye Dogs need you if any of these questions have a yes response, especially if they all do as we approach Christmas.
The group needs volunteers to help raise the puppies because it frequently has puppies running about as part of its dog-training program. That includes the moment, with 45 dogs in need of homes just days away from the merriest day of the year.
In other words, although you will have to return the puppies, Vision Australia is giving them away. If you volunteer to take care of a puppy, you will have one from around the time of its eighth-week birthday until it is between the ages of 12 and 15 months. You will be in charge of acquainting it with the sights, sounds, and odors it will encounter once it begins functioning as a seeing-eye dog during that period (and giving your new friend heaps of cuddles).
Of course, there's more to it than just entertainment and attractiveness. You must have the maturity to take care of your pet's regular grooming, housebreaking, exercise, and availability for visits. Additionally required is a backyard that is enclosed. In exchange, the organization gives all food, training materials, and veterinary care. It also offers a solid support system.
Additionally, you'll need to be able to devote time to socializing and teaching the puppy because you'll need to be home most of the time. Otherwise, you risk leaving the puppy alone for longer than three hours each day while you watch Dog TV.
Most local government regions in metropolitan Melbourne, as well as Geelong, Bendigo, and Ballarat, as well as Seeing Eye Dogs Australia, need applicants.
The Sunshine Coast and Brisbane's north are currently Queensland's top objectives.
When the puppies are between 12 and 15 months old, they will return to Vision Australia, where they will finish training to become canine companions for individuals who are blind or have low vision.
