A group of knowledgeable volunteers is transferred to some of the most hopeless situations in people's lives. They've spent the past twenty years assisting those who are poor, ill, or victims of natural disasters with their construction needs.
A new house is being constructed by the nonprofit organization "Hope with a Hammer" for a Kentucky family whose home was destroyed by tornadoes on December 10.
According to Tommy Roberts, pastor of RIO Central Church in Maryville, Tennessee, their mission activity focuses on assisting those who cannot help themselves.
They are instructed to enter people's lives at their most trying moments and show God is still with them by giving them new hope and constructing a home.
The tornadoes impacted Brenda Moore from Central City on December 10. According to Roberts, Moore and her trailer home were thrown into her yard during the storm, causing her permanent harm.
In December, Moore and her family became the organization's first recipients. She was the first person they helped. They arrived, cleaned up her property, removed all the trash, and are back building her a house.
According to Joey Suttles, a member of the RIO church, this is his second trip to participate in a ministry mission.
Years and years ago, he traveled to another country with fellow pastors on the first mission trip. He's just happy that they can do things at home.
Suttles claims that, as a retired man, he now has the time and resources to help others through "Hope with a Hammer."
According to Roberts, the roof and the house's exterior should be finished by Monday.
To complete Moore's home, group representatives claimed they are accepting donations. Visit Hope with a Hammer's website if you're interested in finding out how to donate.
