HOW SPORTS CAN PREVENT VIOLENT BEHAVIOR

Cool Story - HOW SPORTS CAN PREVENT VIOLENT BEHAVIOR

The right sporting environment can help develop the skills and values that are important to both the participants and the communities they serve. These include respect for others, teamwork, conflict resolution, and resilience. Sport can also help prevent violence against women at both the individual and corporate levels. It can influence how society views us and how we behave. This is because sport can help us challenge the behaviors and attitudes that contribute to the problem.

The media also focuses a lot of unfavorable attention on professional sports. But this glamorizes high-profile wrongdoing that is less frequent. Sport demonstrates upright behaviors because winning demands a lot of teamwork, perseverance, striving for improvement, and overcoming obstacles. We can create an ideal athletic environment by focusing on moral behavior that is laudable rather than dubious.

The need to use sport to prevent violence is especially important in countries of central and south Asia. These regions have more youthful populations who are under threat of recruitment by radical extremist religious and political groups posing a danger to the stability and peace of the countries. it is for governments imperative to take preventive measures should and authorities and effective measures should be devised through educative measures one of which is sports.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development highlights how important sports are becoming as a vehicle for promoting tolerance and respect in society. Additionally, it emphasizes the positive effects that sport may have on people's health, education, and social inclusion as well as their empowerment (especially that of women and young people).  It fosters a sense of belonging and community among individuals and garners respect among peers as well. To keep away from radical groups sports are a useful tool to provide social participation and engagement among young people in communities. Instead of focusing their energies on negative agendas sports provide confidence, skills in leadership and decision making, and provide a powerful sense of self-worth among youth.

Governments should focus on providing safe spaces where sports can be practiced in a harmonious environment. If possible, there should be protected institutions that provide a specific climate that allows free expression and polishing of potential.

There should also be sports-based education and learning opportunities with specific curriculums that teach life skills such as critical thinking and decision making as well as making support the development of falling connections and relationships with other professionals which will help prevent violent extremism. the environment should be so positive as to garner resilience in the individual Put that the individual can come back from any personal and professional setbacks in their lives. they should have enough strength and character to remain strong in the face of difficulties without falling into violent behaviors.

Sports should not only be limited to able-bodied mute but also be socially inclusive of disadvantaged people they should celebrate diversity and emphasize the importance of social inclusion of the disabled into society. Sports should be empowering for the youth assisting them in getting leadership knowledge and opportunities and teaching them to implement these values in their daily lives and their communities. this will help the youth can confidence to give a voice to their opinions and ideas as engaging citizens of the country.

In the country of Pakistan, organizations are working together on this goal by using sports to develop and spread peace in the region as well as provide a platform for the youth to develop social and moral values. Swat Youth Front and Kafka Welfare Organization are these two organizations using team-based sports like soccer volleyball and cricket to promote peace among young people in Pakistan.

Similarly, Non-Violence a non-profit based in Switzerland is determined to prevent violence by any means one of which is through their Education & training/Programs for the 7-18 years old called Sports for peace. Here they educate and inspire to integrate their sports training values into their daily lives. Many other organizations also working towards providing a conflict-free world through sports programs, hammer on the importance of sports in preventing violence among youth.

Sports (…) and physical activity have the power to change perceptions, prejudices, and behaviors, as well as to inspire people, break down racial and political barriers, combat discrimination and defuse conflict.
