If you have an elderly loved one whom you’re struggling to take care of, read this story. It will provide helpful information if you find yourself in this kind of situation. This story also shows how many people may be having similar problems, but to not give up hope and know where to get help. The narrator of this story wishes to remain anonymous:
My mother has had an issue of not being able to sleep and she would start walking around the house in the middle of the night. My family and I were worried that she may fall down(And one time she did). My mother would loudly call out our names at night, so no one was able to sleep properly. We tried everything to see if she would sleep the whole night but nothing worked. Eventually we gave up on convincing her to sleep at night and decided that rather than trying to make her sleep, we should have someone be with her the whole night who is ready to talk to her and calm her down if and when she wakes up. We’ll let her sleep whenever she feels like. We hired a virtual care aide from the WeJob.org/seniors website. The virtual care aide would be watching my mom the entire night through Skype auto dial(meaning that no one would receive the call and the virtual care aide could call every 10 minutes and would be able to see if my mom is sleeping or trying to wake up). The virtual care aide would start talking to my mother as soon as she would try to wake up, and calm her down. We also installed Alexa enabled lights in her room so the virtual care aide can say "Alexa turn the lights on" if my mom were to wake up so my mom wouldn’t feel alone and get anxiety and start walking. The virtual care aide would talk to my mother, read her the newspaper, help her drink some water, ask her how the day was and would talk about anything which would keep her engaged. After 15 to 20 minutes, my mom would get tired of talking to the virtual care aide and automatically go back to sleep. It has been almost 5 months now and our lives and my mom's life have changed for the better. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night to check on her and it is so satisfying to see my mom laughing and talking with the virtual care aide and other times sleeping. The virtual care aide immediately knows what to do to calm her down. Local virtual care aides are available at a fraction of the cost at Wejob.og, as there is no expense for them. International virtual care aides are available for only $150 per month as when it is night here, it's day time over there. We have our virtual care aide for only six hours a day from midnight to 6 am. If you need a virtual care aide, you can go to WeJob.org/seniors or email at email@example.com.
