Aldi said that all of its outlets in Cumbria helped local charities and food banks during a time of increasing need by contributing 10,030 meals to the county throughout the summer months through Neighbourly, a "community giving platform."

Aldi reported that since the commencement of its cooperation with Neighbourly in 2019, its stores nationwide have contributed over 35 million meals, including over 7 million thus far this year.

Also this summer, Aldi announced that as part of its "Get a Taste for Sport" project, it gave every kid in the UK the opportunity to experience an Olympic or Paralympic sport for free, assisting parents in covering the cost of providing healthy activities for their children over the summer vacation.

The continuous cost-of-living problem makes the school break an especially difficult time for homes throughout the country, according to Liz Fox, corporate responsibility director at Aldi UK.

Because of this, we committed to aid even more families in Cumbria this summer through our food donation program with Neighbourly, assisting essential nonprofits in feeding those who are in need the most.

"Demand on charities and foodbanks in Cumbria is incredibly high," said Steve Butterworth of Neighbourly.

To assist so many families during the summer break, Aldi's contribution push was crucial, and we are aware of how appreciative the organizations were of the store's assistance.
