The Virginia Department of Fire Programs has made a sizable gift to the Emergency Services in Giles County, which will improve their capacity to respond to one of the main types of calls they respond to.
Giles County Emergency Services made the $50,000 worth of equipment donation announcement on Monday.
The donation includes the following:
· Spreaders hydraulics of the Genesis brand
· Cutting Rams
· Cutters of pedals
· Pumps with hydraulic power units
· All necessary hoses
· Two complete sets of lifting-capable Res-Q-Jack stabilizing struts
The donation was made in response to a needs analysis of regional Giles County organizations, and the equipment is specialized for car extrication. Poplar Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Giles Lifesaving and Rescue Squad, and Rich Creek Volunteer Fire Department will share the equipment.
