Here are some suggestions if you want to help those affected by the devastating wildfire in Hawaii but don't know where to begin.
What's going on: A few neighborhood restaurants have been holding fundraising events.
· There are several that you may still take part in, according to Seattle Met.
· Alternatively, you can look at this Instagram list of dozens of eateries taking part in the "Seattle for Maui" campaign, whereby participating eateries contribute a portion of their profits to relief efforts.
If you'd like to give money directly, The Hawai'i Community Foundation offers a Maui Strong Fund that accepts contributions to help victims with services like food, housing, and financial support.
In addition, monies are being given by Maui United Way to community-based organizations that help victims locally.
Donations are being accepted by the American Red Cross of Hawaii to assist in providing food, housing, and emotional support to evacuated residents.
Donations to The Maui Food Bank will assist in feeding displaced residents.
Unsure if a charity is trustworthy? On the website of the Hawaii Attorney General, see if the organization is a registered charity.
Additionally, you can look up the organization's rating on charitynavigator.org.
