Speaking at the "Med-Health Expo 2023 and Summit" here, he noted that health and education were two fundamental areas that needed to be given top importance because nations constantly built on these two areas.
The president claimed that by taking preventive steps, people in general and those with fewer resources may easily avoid chronic ailments including breast cancer, hepatitis, and infectious infections.
He emphasized that the lack of decision-making, avoiding merit, and corruption in the past were the primary causes of the nation's inadequate health facilities. This was about the nation's worsening health sector.
The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) arranged the health sector exhibition to provide chances for information sharing, education, and collaboration for health professionals.
Through a series of sessions, the two-day conference will present the most recent findings and advancements in several medical specialties.
President Alvi urged academic institutions to support medical research that would significantly improve people's health.
He exhorted the medical community to keep up with the world, which was conducting cutting-edge research on human DNA to anticipate disease in individuals.
To ensure that people, particularly from all walks of society, have access to high-quality medical facilities, he also urged businessmen to produce affordable medical products.
To enhance their exports of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals, President Alvi advised businessmen and exporters to go into large potential markets like Africa.
He stated that over 9 million conceptions took place annually in the nation, out of which 50% were unplanned and could be easily prevented by making contraceptive options available to people.
In a similar vein, he suggested that hospitals and doctors use cutting-edge technology to offer online healthcare services to conserve money for both patients and the hospitals.
He continued by saying that doing this will aid in reaching the greatest amount of individuals.
To save the lives of individuals in situations, the president also emphasized the importance of giving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training to regular people starting in school.
President of the RCCI Saqib Rafiq stated that First Lady Samina Alvi and President Dr. Arif Alvi were instrumental in raising awareness of various illnesses, particularly breast cancer, in the nation.
He claimed that there were issues in Pakistan's health sector that needed to be resolved.
He said that 10% of the population had hepatitis and 34% had stress disorders as a result of a lack of education and access to healthcare. He also claimed that the nation has a very high rate of maternal mortality.
Usman Shoukat, the event's chairman, urged the government to prioritize the health sector and implement particular measures to improve it.
Group leader RCCI Sohail Altaf argued that to guarantee accessible healthcare for all, the government should offer subsidized land and equipment to the private sector.
In recognition of their contributions to the healthcare industry, pharmaceutical firms, for-profit hospitals, and laboratories received shields from President Alvi at the event.
