Beach Grove Golf Club members raise $17,000 for KidSport Delta

Cool Story - Beach Grove Golf Club members raise $17,000 for KidSport Delta

The Beach Grove Golf Club's women's membership has a long-standing custom of hosting an annual Member and Guest event to raise money for a local cause or community organization in Delta.

For KidsSport Delta, a record sum of $17,000 was raised this year.

Delta KidSport chair Carlene Lewall remarked, "We were thrilled to be their charity of choice for this year's competition. "More than 50 kids will be able to participate in sport this fall thanks to the efforts of the Beach Grove Golf Club."

KidSport Delta submitted a successful application to the TELUS Community Board Grant Program with the help of a club member who served on the event planning committee and was awarded an additional $20,000 in addition to the golf club's donation.

Lewall continued, "We were overjoyed to have had the assistance and to have been granted the $20,000 by TELUS. "Sports provide kids with so much more than just exercise and gameplay. Among the many advantages include making new friends and developing life skills like teamwork, devotion, time management, sportsmanship, and commitment. KidSport Delta is happy to be able to remove the cost as a barrier, enabling all kids to join.

Since January 2023, KidSport Delta has distributed more than $40,000 and offered 110 kids the chance to enjoy sports.

164 children played outside in 2022 with more than $65,000 in registration fees paid. Without the kind donations from private donors, sponsors, and groups like the Beach Grove Golf Club, this would not be possible.
