West Des Moines Human Services School Supply Distribution
West Des Moines Human Services offers a school supply handout every August for qualifying low-income West Des Moines households. To receive supplies, income verification, and appointments are required. Registration is open until Aug. 10 at wdm.iowa.gov/schoolsupplyregistration[t1], and supplies will be distributed on Aug. 15.
School physicals are also available at the Valley Junction Free Medical Clinic, which is housed in the facility, for low-income, uninsured, or under-insured adolescents. This clinic does not provide vaccinations.
Walk-ins are accepted, and residents of West Des Moines are not required to use this clinic. The clinic is open from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, and you must be checked in by 7:30 p.m.
