Raindrop Foundation raises money for earthquake relief with festival

Cool Story - Raindrop Foundation raises money for earthquake relief with festival

They raised a total of $15,000 during their festival on Saturday.

The number of fatalities from earthquakes in Turkey and Syria is increasing.

More than 47,000 people had passed away as of Thursday.

It encourages charitable deeds and donating at home. The Raindrop Foundation organized an event on Saturday to raise money for earthquake assistance.

Saadet, a young festival-goer, remarked, "I admire how they're going to donate the money to Turkey concerning the earthquake."

Another child, Azra, stated, "I can chat with my friends about the earthquake and that makes me feel, wonderful and relieved.

The event of Raindrop Foundation was a sea of happy kids, food, and appreciation of Turkish culture.

We always genuinely participate in these events for a good cause, but this one is especially meaningful to me. Fatma Arslam, a volunteer, said, "Thank God we didn't lose anyone. My father is from the area.”

Since the original earthquake on February 6th, which toppled buildings and killed thousands of people, several weeks have passed.

This week saw two further earthquakes, thus the organization is using this event to generate money to provide for the area.

According to Armen Babajanian, CEO of the Global Affairs Council, "It's a horrible tragedy, but it has also brought the world together, San Antonians together."

This tragedy felt more personal to Mehtap Yakisan.

She was not only from the first earthquake's affected area, but she also lost her brother, sister-in-law, 45-day-old nephew, and two in-law family members.

Via a translator, Yakisan explained, "So my parents try to clear the debris for three days with their own hands. And on days four and five, we succeeded in getting to their bodies.

Yakisan was unable to attend its funerals in Turkey. She was forced to view them through video calls.

She claimed that her brother was an angel who genuinely cared about other people.

"She claimed that he wasn't cut out for this life. So, Pakistan remarked, "that is why we think he went to heaven.

Even as she and her family grieve, they are grateful for the assistance they have received from the outside world and this place, her new home.

"In my opinion, folks affected by an earthquake require not just material but also spiritual and physical assistance. They require all assistance,” Yakisan stated.

If you were unable to attend the festival, the Raindrop Foundation is collaborating with Embrace Relief, a charity that provides disaster assistance and humanitarian aid.
