Imagine a society where generosity reigns. when neighbors support neighbors. where people from different groups come together to make the world a better place. However, by partnering with millions of other like-minded changemakers on Good Deeds Day, you don't have to only dream it; you can live it. The date for this international day of service in 2023 is April 16.
Founder of GDD and philanthropist Shari Arison stated, "I believe that if people will think good, speak good, and do good, the circles of kindness will increase around the globe.
How it started
Arison's concept inspired the development of GDD, which debuted in 2007 in a single nation before expanding globally in 2011.
Millions of individuals from 108 different nations have come together to organize charitable projects, enhance their local communities, and inspire others to be charitable both on Global Day of Kindness and every day.
Smaller initiatives like painting community centers or organizing blood drives are included, as are bigger initiatives like a gigantic beach clean-up in Greece in 2022. Due to the epidemic, GDD went virtual in 2020; nonetheless, there are numerous sizable public events scheduled for 2023.
"Each in their way and according to their heart's desire, we all can lead the world to a better place.”
“It is touching to witness the outpouring of replies from individuals all over the world who offer a helping hand at this time, in any way imaginable, whether face-to-face or via family, and in a variety of other methods that do good for the benefit of others, " Arison added.
How to participate
Involve yourself in GDD in three simple steps. Save the date to your phone or computer, sign up on the website, and then inform the GDD staff of your plans.
There are hundreds of ideas to choose from on the website if you don't have any of your own.
Additionally, you can look for volunteer opportunities through Points of Light, a foundation George H. W. Bush created. A nonprofit that connects volunteers with issues they support is VolunteerMatch.
Any initiative you take part in will have an impact on an individual, a group, or possibly the entire planet.
The peak of doing good all year round is Good Deeds Day, an annual global day of good deeds. Good Deeds Day was started in 2007 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Shari Arison, and it has since expanded to 108 countries and millions of participants. April 16, 2023, is Good Deeds Day.
