Many Christians experience sentiments of anticipation as the new year begins in anticipation of fresh starts and chances to advance their religion. For each Christian entering the new year, consider the following:
Attending church: According to Hebrews 10:24–25, "Let us think of ways to excite one another to love and good actions, not neglecting our assembly together, as is the custom of some, but encouraging one another." No doubt attending church benefits the entire congregation as well as the individual. Being devoted to a home church gives one courage, solace, sustenance, and joy.
As Mark 10:45 states, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to make His life a ransom for many." engage in ministry. Our Lord came to serve us, not to be served by others. He went out into the streets and served the lost by providing them with both physical and spiritual nourishment. He is the model that we should all strive to emulate when we join the ministry community. The world needs church ministries more than we do, not because we need them.
Participate in a Bible study: You have been believers for such a long time that you should be instructing others, as it says in Hebrews 5:12–14. You resemble little children who can only consume solid food when given milk. Because someone who just consumes milk is still a baby and has no concept of what is morally correct. Solid food is only appropriate for adults. While some believers have particular teaching gifts, God's will is for every believer to develop to the point of becoming a teacher and participate in some form of teaching ministry (it could be our little ones at home or our friends who are curious to know about our faith, for example).
Fasting and prayer: According to Matthew 6:16–18, "And when you fast, do not seem gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their features so that others may observe their fasting... But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face so that only your hidden Father can see that you are fasting. We pray to be heard by God and unseen by others. Some prayers frequently call for fasting. God will pay special attention to His child if something bothers them to the point of deprivation and sadness.
Serving the lost: The harvest is bountiful, but the workers are few, as stated in Matthew 9:37–38. So, pray that harvest God would send out laborers into His harvest. Unfortunately, there is still much spiritual harvest labor to be done, but there aren't many workers. We must keep asking the Lord to send out servants who are prepared to share the Gospel everywhere, even if that means preaching it to ourselves. Keep in mind that this is a request for prayer rather than a call to action.
I'm aware that there is a lot more to say, but this is a wonderful place to start for those who are seeking methods to develop or just need a reminder of why we do what we do.
I hope this year is filled with both difficulties and blessings for you. Together, we are fighting the good battle. May the Lord help us and encourage us to step outside of our comfort zone to honor the heavenly Father. Let's keep planting seeds in any available fields and ask the Lord to provide miracle watering for them.
