Effective measures are taken to control dengue

Cool Story - Effective measures are taken to control dengue

Dr. Akhtar Malik, Punjab's Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare, expressed sadness over politicians politicizing the dengue epidemic and said that the PTI-led government has done more effective dengue control measures over the past three months than Hamza Shehbaz's administration.

Dr. Akhtar Malik was speaking to a Punjab Dengue Monitoring Committee gathering on Saturday at the Civil Secretariat, which included administrative secretaries among its attendees. Divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, and chief secretary Abdullah Khan all joined the meeting via video link.

According to the health minister, the Hamza Shehbaz regime carried out 20.4 million surveillance, 185,000 IRS, and 7,000 fogging operations to control dengue, while our government carried out 79.2 million surveillance, 1.18 million IRS, and 100,000 fogging operations throughout the province over the past three months, demonstrating our commitment to resolving these problems.

He noted that despite significant monsoon rains and flash floods, the province's dengue situation is substantially improved, with only 38 dengue-related fatalities reported this year compared to 98 during the same period last year.

To avoid a dengue outbreak, the minister ordered all deputy commissioners to step up indoor surveillance. Due to the busy surveillance efforts of dengue workers, only 17,061 confirmed dengue cases were reported in Punjab, according to Secretary of Health Dr. Irshad Ahmad. According to his opinion, the effective monitoring of dengue surveillance activities has caused dengue cases to start declining.
