Coronavirus Pandemic: China's new control measures boost interest in inbound travel

Cool Story - Coronavirus Pandemic: China's new control measures boost interest in inbound travel

Twenty additional COVID-19 reaction measures, many of which loosen restrictions on arriving tourists, were recently revealed by China. As a result, there has been a rise in interest in international travel to China. reports Cao Chufeng.

A shorter quarantine period for incoming travelers, a reduction in the number of PCR tests required before airline passengers board inbound flights from two to one, and the elimination of flight cancellations due to an excessive number of infections are just a few of the new COVID-19 measures that were announced earlier this month.

All of China's top online travel businesses have experienced a significant increase in business.

LI DONG Director, South China Region Trip.com Group Public Affairs Department The number of foreign flight searches on our platform tripled within an hour of the policy's introduction, and they increased 164 percent overall throughout the course of the next week.

The number of inbound flight bookings jumped by 46% the day the policy was announced.

China unveiled several investment-friendly regulations earlier this year, including easier admission for visitors traveling on business, and it appears to be working.

LI DONG Director, South China Region Trip.com Group Public Affairs Department "We believe that the rise in international business travel is pretty evident. Orders for tickets for incoming business travel increased by 245 percent from January to October of this year.”

The new measures, according to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport officials, would help bring back tourists and restore normalcy.

Deputy General Manager QI YAOMING works for Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co. "After the 20 new measures were announced. To better serve inbound passengers, the quarantine period for our staff members who performed high-risk tasks has been shortened. And with the removal of the circuit breaker mechanism and the gradual expansion of international passenger flights, the cost of airfares will probably return to normal levels.”

CHUFENG CAO Guangzhou The dynamic zero-COVID policy is still in effect in China. According to Baiyun International Airport, they would be under additional pressure to stop the virus from entering China as a result of the anticipated rise in inbound travelers.
