Sometimes a kind person can make all the difference.
On the evening of November 9, Howard Harris Jr. was traveling home when he noticed a child on the road. He picked up the kid and went above and beyond by utilizing social media to attempt to track out the boys' families.
He was prosperous.
According to the Port Arthur Police Department, Harris was carrying the boy when officers arrived at the scene of the call about the missing youngster in the 5000 block of Gulfway Drive.
After Harris posted on social media, the child was located and given back to his family in a matter of minutes.
According to the police, the kid ran away from the house as the family slept.
Harris’s actions were commendable, according to Chief Tim Duriso.
Harris was invited to the police station by Duriso, who didn't want to wait until much later to congratulate him.
A certificate of gratitude from the PAPD was given to Harris there.
Duriso claimed Harris was content to assist a young person.
About 90 people commented on the police department's Facebook post this week regarding Harris' behavior. Others labeled him a good man and claimed God had placed him in the appropriate place that night while others thanked him for his deeds.
One individual expressed his happiness at the continued existence of decent morals and ideals. He was glad to discover that Harris was known to PAPD.
According to Duriso, deeds like Harris' do occur, but frequently, people do not desire praise. He claimed that Harris was hesitant to accept the gratitude certificate.
However, the individual only accepted after the police approached him and told him how much they valued what he had done.
In Port Arthur, we have wonderful people, Duriso added. We constantly ask for assistance, and this is a great illustration of what it means to participate.
Good deeds like watching out for a youngster are the kind of deeds that change the world.
This makes me think of a song from a long time ago. (After conducting a Google search, I discovered the song in question was released in 1965, the year I was born.)
Jackie DeShannon's song "What the World Needs Now Is Love" is a hopeful song that is still relevant today, even after all these years.”
"Love, lovely love, is what the world needs right now."
Love, beautiful love, is the one thing the world currently needs since there is simply not enough of it.
No, for everyone, not just for some.
And even though the world can be a nasty place, I'm grateful there are people like Howard Harris Jr. who go above and beyond to change things.
