A $5,000 donation has been made to Light of Hope in Claremore, Oklahoma, according to a press release from the American Land Title Association (ALTA) Good Deeds Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established by ALTA, the national trade association for the land title insurance business.
Layla Freeman, founder, and CEO of Light of Hope said, "Light of Hope is tremendously honored by this wonderful grant from the ALTA Good Deeds Foundation." These monies will be used to support our prevention and recovery services, which contribute to the development of healthier communities. We are very grateful for the Foundation's help and thank them.
The nonprofit was put forth for the award by Stan Harrell, the owner, and CEO of Rogers County Abstract in Claremore, because of the group's work to assist those who are battling with substance misuse and to spread awareness of prevention.
As the beneficiary of this donation from the ALTA Good Deeds Foundation, Nancy Phelps, executive director of Light of Hope, expressed her gratitude. Our group will use this award to educate the public about the causes of and treatments for addiction while also offering support and resources to people suffering from substance use disorders and addiction.
One of the 26 charity groups in the United States to receive funding this month from the ALTA Good Deeds Foundation is Light of Hope. During ALTA ONE, ALTA's major annual event, the Foundation announced the recipients of this year's second round of biannual grants.
According to Foundation Board Chair Mary O'Donnell, president, and CEO of Westcor Land Title Insurance Co. and a former ALTA president, "my favorite season is officially granted season." "The funds from the ALTA Good Deeds Foundation have a significant influence on these nonprofits. We look forward to seeing how these grants support the expansion and growth of regional communities around the nation.”
The ALTA Good Deeds Foundation was established in 2020 to support ALTA members' charity endeavors. Professionals in land title insurance are eligible to submit grant applications on behalf of registered 501(c)(3) organizations that they donate to or volunteer for; charities that assist with housing are given precedence. In March 2021, grants were announced for the first time.
According to ALTA CEO Diane Tomb, "this year, ALTA members came together to support a tremendous goal: to help the ALTA Good Deeds Foundation earn $1 million." "I am happy to report that we reached that target this fall; ALTA members have consistently supported the Foundation above and beyond the call of duty since the Foundation's founding in October 2020.” We have awarded grants totaling more than $550,000 to 97 neighborhood groups around the nation, in 36 states plus Washington, D.C. We are appreciative that the Foundation can carry out its important work and have an impact in so many areas thanks to the support of our members.
